MINERALS FEATURED PREVIOUSLY IN THE MINERAL OF
THE MONTH CLUB

March 1996 Our first month of operation! We sent wonderful specimens to
a handful of Club members, most of whom joined at shows where they could see
the impressive quality of our featured specimens. We featured this
incredible pyrite again in March 2006 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of
our Club. |
April 1996
This was another outstanding month, as you can see from the photo to the
right. We featured cavansite from this same locality in April 2006, again to
mark our 10th anniversary.

We sent Club members sizable specimens of Kyanite in quartz from Minas
Gerais, Brazil. |

June 1996
This was during the time when the famous Elmwood Mine was producing
large quantities of affordable specimens, so we sent Club members
outstanding specimens of Fluorite on matrix from this marvelous mine. Now
that it's being worked again, perhaps we'll be able to get more in the
future! |

Back to India we went, mineralogically speaking, to feature wonderful
specimens of apophyllite. |

August 1996 We had a small lot of excellent realgar crystals from a
new find at the Shimen mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture, Hunan
Province, China. These were really exceptional, and we would love to find
another lot! |

September 1996 We featured another Chinese mineral, sending Club
members excellent specimens of Azurite from the Daye Copper Mine, Hubei
Province, China. |

October 1996 Another very colorful month! We sent matrix pieces
covered in bright red-orange Crocoite from the Adelaide Mine, Tasmania,
Australia. We featured crocoite again in October 2006 as part of our 10th
anniversary year. |

November 1996 Easy to find in 1996, we haven't seen any of this
beautiful calcite, colored red by inclusions of hematite, on the
market in years. We'll keep looking! |

December 1996 We completed our first year of colorful and wonderful
minerals by featuring Amethyst from Artigas, Uruguay, outstanding for the
intensity of its color. What an excellent year it was! |
