AMBER FOR FEBRUARY! We’ve been trying for years to find a large lot of polished Baltic amber pieces, but never could– it was all being used in jewelry. But we met a collector who had spent much time in Lithuania and had gradually accumulated a large lot. He contacted us at a show and we were able to make a deal–and he had to give us a really great price on specimens, as amber is usually way out of our price range. So we bought a lot, so that those who wanted to could upgrade. The typical Deluxe-size specimen will be about 1¼” to 1¾” by ¾” to 1¼”, and we have an upgrade available, with Platinum-level size pieces available for Deluxe members: about 2" by 1¼” to 2¼” by 1½” for an additional $17.50, $22.50, and $27.50 according to quality. Junior members would have to add an additional $15.50 if they would like to upgrade to Platinum-size, or could obtain a Deluxe-size piece for $15.50. We have even larger pieces available–call or E-mail for details if you’re interested. All pieces are polished to show off their great color and beauty.

PAST MINERALS AVAILABLE AGAIN! We have the following previously featured minerals available again in excellent Deluxe-size specimens for $22.50 each, with a special offer of 12 of the minerals for the price of 11– $247.50 for 12 together. We thought we'd rate them by appearance, for those of you who are particularly interested in the more attractive minerals-- 1 "*" means not too attractive, 2 "*" means attractive, 3 "*" means beautiful, 4 "*" means outstanding. Of course, this rating is highly subjective, but will give you a guideline. For photos of most of these, see the “November Offer Sheet” on our web site:

***Vivianite (Nov 2004) ***Azurite (Dec 2004) ***Peridot (Dec 2003)

While picking out our clinochlore pieces, we couldn't help but notice the Russian dealer also had actual Woolly Mammoth Hair available! The hair is found with the remains of other animals in permafrost north of Yakutsk, Sakha Republic, Russia. We can put a few strands in a plastic bag for $5 each, or can weigh out a small hank for $20, $24, $28, or $32; or sell it by the gram at $30/gram-- the hair is lightweight, so you get a lot for a gram.

Woolly mammoth hair from Russia.

BEAUTIFUL POLISHED QUARTZ FROM BRAZIL. These are cut flat on the bottom and look really great displayed on the rotating LED light stand we are offering for $22.00 on the “Mineral Display Supplies” flyer. We have: Rutilated quartz crystals about 2¼” high and 1½” wide and a little bigger for $30, $36, and $44; Smoky quartz crystals about 1¾” high by 1½” wide for $34 and $40, a quartz crystal with several phantoms about 4" high and 2½” wide for $54; and several larger quartz crystals about 4½” high and 2" wide for $60 and 4½” high by 3" wide for $80.

We’re now able to offer samples of several minerals we were thinking of featuring but were not able to. We have some beautiful tiles made of Lapis Lazuli from Chile, the only way we were able to get samples. We have 4" by 4" tiles with 50% Lapis for $20, and 2" by 3" tiles with 40% Lapis for $14.

We also have beigey-white Orthoclase with sharply formed faces from Africa, about 2½” by 2" for $14, or a little bigger with green tourmaline crystals for $22.50 and $30.

Flat sprays of emerald-green Brochantite from Morenci, Arizona, on matrix about 2" by 1½” for $8 or 3½” by 2" for $12.

And from the Russ & Alexandra Filer inventory, who ran the old Mineral of the Month Club in the 1970's, nice, clear Smoky Quartz crystals from Saline Valley, Inyo County, CA, in pairs of left- and right-handed crystals about 1½” long mounted on a styrofoam base for $12, with larger pairs for $18, and larger single crystals for $12, $14, $16, and $20. We met the Filers several years ago at their home in Yucaipa, CA, and learned how they started their version of the Club. (They were dealers specializing in supplying small study-size specimens to schools, and Russ’ father before him was also a dealer.) Alexandra said she was away on business for a few days, and upon arriving home was informed by Russ that he had started a Mineral of the Month Club and could she get busy on the first fact sheet! We heard she had passed away a few years ago, and have not heard more about Russ.

Barite, from a new find in Peru, as lustrous, transparent, near-perfect, terminated blades on a bit of dolomite matrix– excellent specimens about 1" by 1" for $48.

One Club member who purchased a couple of the exceptional calcite crystals and groups from Dalnegorsk, Russia we’ve been offering the last couple of months exclaimed how much he appreciated the beauty of the crystal he received. We could write a paragraph or more on each of these unique specimens, but time does not permit it, so if you want to pick up an outstanding specimen or two, we highly recommend these calcite specimens: Clear prismatic calcite crystals 1½” long by 1¼” wide to over 2" long by over 1¼” wide for $15, $20, $25, and $32; clusters with sharp hexagonal prism crystals to 1" across for $15, $25, $30, $40, $50, and $60, and a few larger clusters for $30, $40, and $50. Exceptional clear fluorite, $30, $40, and $50, and larger clusters, for $40 and $90. Sharp, flat galena for $90 and pyrrhotite for $50.

Native gold in nice-size flat crystal groups from Eagle’s Nest mine, California, $100 to $450– call or E-mail for details or a scan.

Benitoite, the California state gemstone– we received a new lot of crystals with great color and form on matrix. Now that the mine is closed, these specimens should stay high in value. We have excellent, nice-sized specimens from $150 to $600– call or E-mail for more info.

Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Colorado– another new lot from this famous, now-closed mine. Crystals with high quality color and crystal form on and off matrix from $75 to $600.

Montana Agate cabs in calibrated sizes: 30mm x 22mm for $15 and 40mm x 30mm for $24.

Turquoise nuggets with good color from El Rosario, Baja California Norte, Mexico, from about 2" by 2" to 3" by 2½” for $16, and $26, again by size/quality.

Anapaite from the Crimea, Ukraine. Small clusters of bright green crystals to about ¼” in vugs on matrix about 2" by 2" for $24 and $30, by crystal coverage.

Platinum crystals from the Kondor mine, far-eastern Siberia, about 1/16" across– you can see some crystal faces on these! $40

Nice small specimens for young or new collectors: magnetic lodestone from Utah, 2" by 2" for $4; ulexite (TV rock) from Boron, California, about 1½” by 2" for $4; anthracite coal from Pennsylvania, about 2" by 2" for $4, or 3" by 4" for $6; Chunks of sparkly light purple lepidolite with embedded small pink tourmaline crystals from San Diego County, Cal, about 1½” by 1½ for $4; Bright yellow sulfur crystals about 1½” long from Bolivia for $6; small blue blades of kyanite 1" high for $4; bright green cleaved fluorite octahedrons from China, about 1¼”, $8; A set of each of these mentioned in this paragraph, $28.

Instant collection! A flat with 54 different minerals and rocks, everything from opal to tinchalconite, to epidote to rose quartz, all nicely mounted in 1" by 1" boxes. Each flat is slightly different, with specimens mostly from the western U.S., augmented by world localities, for $78.

As always, U.S. shipping is included, satisfaction is guaranteed, anything ordered will be shipped with your next mineral specimen, and we’ll send the corresponding write-ups for minerals previously featured in the Club. Not responsible for typographical errors! E-mail, fax or call us at 1-800-941-5594 to order or mail in the form.
